Turning Wells Into Lifelines: The Work of Agua Resources

A Lifeline in Every Well: How Agua Resources Is Changing Lives Around the World

In remote parts of the world, access to clean drinking water is still a daily struggle. For many families, the nearest water source is unreliable or unsafe—and the impact reaches every corner of life, from childhood health to economic stability. But for thousands of people across Mexico and beyond, one organization has been quietly and steadily changing that.

Agua Resources was founded in 1998 with a single mission: to bring pure, drinkable water to communities in need. Since then, they've drilled and maintained over 500 water wells, delivering life-sustaining clean water to villages across the Atoyac and Costa Chica regions of Mexico—areas that previously had no dependable water supply.

What began as a local effort under the leadership of Pastor Sam Walker of Church on the Rock North in Beaumont, Texas, has grown into an international partnership that now stretches across borders. Working alongside its sister ministry in Canada, founded by Pastor Casey Sitter, and supported by a network of generous individuals and churches, Agua Resources has expanded its impact far beyond Mexico.

Through global partnerships, they've helped fund wells in Ghana, Kenya, the Philippines, India, and soon, Thailand and Uganda. In each case, the goal remains the same: provide clean, sustainable water to communities that desperately need it.

Even in the face of financial challenges, logistical hurdles, and occasionally unsafe environments, Agua Resources has remained committed. To date, they've successfully drilled over 280 shallow water wells in Mexico alone—wells that provide fresh, clean water every single day to people who once lived without.

As longtime medical missionary Tom Shaffer puts it:

“In my twenty-eight years of serving as a medical missionary in southern Mexico I’ve found that nothing has had more impact on improving the health and well-being of the people in this region than the fresh clean water Agua Resources Projects have provided.”

Why It Matters

Clean water doesn’t just improve health—it transforms lives. It frees up time, boosts agricultural opportunity, improves school attendance, and gives entire communities a foundation for long-term growth. For some, it’s the first chance to break free from the cycle of poverty and sickness caused by contaminated water.

How to Support

Agua Resources operates with a team of generous volunteers. Whether you donate, volunteer, or simply spread the word, every bit of support helps put another well into the ground—and puts clean water within reach of another family.

A Personal Note

This year, Dennis Whitehurst of DrilRite will be joining the Agua Resources volunteer team, consisting of Sam Walker, Cory Miller, Connan Welch and Rickey Raley on one of their upcoming trips to Mexico. As part of the drilling community, it’s an honor to support an organization making an impact where it truly matters most.

Water changes everything—and Agua Resources is proving that one well at a time.
