One Foot at a Time Podcast: Trevor Duncan of Ditch Witch Louisiana

On Episode 6 of the One Foot at a Time podcast, we sat down with Trevor Duncan, the youngest member of the Duncan family and the third generation behind Ditch Witch of Louisiana. Family-owned since 1977, the Duncan name is synonymous with underground construction support in the Shreveport–Bossier region and beyond. Trevor’s appearance gave us a rare look at what it means to grow up in the equipment dealership segment of the HDD industry, carry forward a family legacy, and prepare for the future of directional drilling.

A Family Legacy in Orange

Trevor’s grandfather, William “Bill” H. Duncan Jr., purchased Ditch Witch of Louisiana in 1977 after beginning his career with Sooner Equipment in Oklahoma. Together with his wife Linda, Bill built the dealership into a trusted resource for contractors across Louisiana. Today, Linda remains CEO, while Trevor’s father, Tad Duncan, and uncle, Trent Duncan, serve as vice presidents.

Now Trevor represents the third generation, bringing more than a decade of hands-on experience at the dealership. His journey illustrates how family-owned dealerships remain vital to HDD contractors: continuity, deep product knowledge, and a personal commitment that outlasts market cycles.

Recognition Earned Through Service

Under the Duncan family’s leadership, Ditch Witch of Louisiana has been recognized multiple times with the Crescent Club Award, Ditch Witch’s highest dealership honor. That recognition speaks not only to sales but also to the level of service, training, and support they deliver to the contractors who rely on them.

For Trevor, those values aren’t abstract - they’re the environment he was raised in. On the podcast, he reflected on learning the business from the ground up and seeing firsthand how critical it is to keep contractors moving when downtime costs money.

A Younger Perspective on HDD

In our conversation, Trevor also shared how the next generation views the industry. From the growing role of technology in HDD to new approaches in customer communication, Trevor brings a perspective that balances tradition with progress. While the Duncan name is rooted in decades of dealership experience, Trevor is helping carry it forward in ways that meet today’s contractors where they are.

Why This Conversation Matters

For HDD professionals, the One Foot at a Time podcast is about more than stories - it’s about perspective. Hearing from a third-generation leader like Trevor Duncan underscores how much stability and trust matter in this industry. Contractors don’t just need machines and mud—they need partners who understand the work, stand behind their products, and commit for the long haul.

That’s why we were proud to have Trevor on the show. His story reflects the same values we strive for at DrilRite: proven performance, family-driven commitment, and a focus on helping contractors succeed one foot at a time.
